After showing my planning process on Instagram people were interested in a blogpost about cosplay planning and I’m really excited to write something about this topic as well! It’s a very important step in making your costumes and everyone has a different way of approaching this. In this blogpost I will show you how I personally plan my costumes and which steps you should not miss to prevent mistakes and avoid nerve-wracking moments.
So let’s jump right into this! First of all, again:
Planning is a very crucial and important part of cosplay making!
A good plan is half the battle.
If you know before starting the costume where to put snap fasteners, zippers or any other attachment for parts of your cosplay it’s much easier to think of a good pattern when making or adjusting one. It also helps you evaluate how much fabric you need for which parts without buying four meters more than actually needed. If you know from the start that you need to attach different parts via velcro onto your main garment, you should use a type of fabric with more stability. Also think about the kind of needles you may need! How many times did you have to wait a few days to finish your cosplay because you were missing some zippers or snaps and still waiting for the order to arrive? Think about it while planning your costume and you will most likely not need to order something you missed in between. Do you have enough snap fasteners? Count them! Do you really have enough at home for your project?
Hey everyone! Today I have a short life update for you!
After all the stress I had lately I can finally say…. I finished university!
My bachelors thesis is handed in and I’m waiting for my last and final grade as well as my certification.
As soon as I have this document I officially have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Asien Studies and Japanese.
I still remember graduating from school… wow. Time sure flies, don’t you think?
Graduation Robe, June 30th 2017
But that’s not everything, I have even more to say! I’m currently in denmark for vacation. Time to relax! :D
And even better: After my vacation I will prepare myself for something new. Something I wanted to do in the future and I will be able to do sooner than expected. Something I really love. A wish come true!
Long time no read!
Sorry for the lack of posting or editing anything on my blog these last months.
Right now I’m in the middle of graduating from university. In less than 2 months from now on I need to pass one oral test as well as 2 exams. I also need to finish my bachelor’s thesis. Hopefully I get everything done and accomplished!
If everything goes according to plan I will be one week in denmark at the beginning of september and I will have a lot more time to get my blog updated and work on costumes afterwards (at least as long as I don’t have a job yet).
Also the “Connichi” is coming up in the middle of september and I plan on attending this German convention! <3
It is finally time to talk about my plans I have for 2017!
If it interests you, feel free to read this blogpost. If you’re here for a character specific blogpost, why not read the last one I posted? Just click here.
Warning: There will be a lot of text! If you don’t want to read everything, you could just take a look at the pictures if you want to! :)
Let’s start with the fixed plans: the conventions I’m visiting including the costumes I will wear that time. I only have two conventions I’ll be going to 100% this year and one “maybe-convention”. These will be the following ones:
May 20th; Düsseldorf, Germany
I haven’t been to the Japanday in costume the last few years, so I decided to try it out again. I will probably wear the Yukata Hikari Yagami wears in Digimon Adventure Tri together with a friends as Sora Takenouchi. Although I won’t sew a new Yukata! I will wear the one I bought in Japan which looks similar to the one she wears in the movie.
June 3rd & 4th; Düsseldorf, Germany
If I can get it done, I want to wear Ladybug (Miraculous) on saturday with a friend as Chat Noir, a miraculous-inspired Ballgown for the cosplay-prom and Tharja with a gigantic Fire Emblem Awakening/Fates group on sunday.
I am thinking about visiting the Connichi in Kassel, Germany, which takes place from september 22nd to 24th. I am allowed to sleep over at a friend’s place, but I cannot say for sure if I will attend the convention. I’m not sure if I have enough time or money at that time yet. I am also not sure which costumes I should wear.
Hey there! The new year has finally started and I hope you had an awesome start into 2017!
New year, new luck! … as I like to say. Normally, to have new luck, you are thinking about the past year(s) and try to think of new and better ways to survive the upcoming one. And what is a good way to do so? Exactly, New Year’s Resolutions!
Although I did not post resolutions for 2016, I really want to start doing so. I love cosplaying and sewing, so why not make a list only for cosplay-related resolutions?
The first things I want to mention do seem to be not related to cosplay at all. But they are, more or less, because it affects my time for working on costumes.
So 2017 is THE year! I will graduate from university in summer and I still need to write my bachelor thesis, so I obviously cannot work on costumes as much as I want. Too bad… But I really need to get this done properly. After graduating I want to find a good job and save up some money for a few things, including a new and better sewing machine and a nice camera. And I hope I can somehow accomplish that.

I also want to start going to the fitness center, at least once a week, to get in shape. Yes, this is a very crucial resolution! If I want to shoot a lot of things and especially wear Ladybug in spring or summer this year, I need to be ready. And I want to do that. For that purpose I even created the hashtag #roadtomiraculous, to motivate myself!
And now… moving on to directly cosplay – related resolutions.
Hey guys! <3
After some time I have a few announcements and updates I wanted to share with you.
This might be a longer blogpost, but if you’re interested, please follow along or just read the text underneath each point you want to know more about!
First of all I will change the layout of this blog as soon as I have the time to do so. I want to give it a nice and unique touch and edit some pictures for that and I will probably also change the template (again). I hope it will look good and you like it! You’ll get a new update blogpost if I’m finished happy with the outcome.
Next will be my trip to Japan. I’m going to visit Tokyo for 3 weeks at the end of august and as you might know this requires a lot money, which won’t go into cosplay. And because of this expensive vacation I won’t have the money, nor the time, to do a lot more costumes. There are a few more planned, which I will tell you later on in this post, but it will probably take longer. I want to spend more time into sewing and making costumes to get better quality. I hope this somehow works out! :D

Talking about some more cosplay related things again. As you might have noticed: I’m very slow when it comes to explaining progress in a very detailed way. Sometimes it’s very hard since English is not my native language! I’m always doing my best, though. Including my every day life, sewing cosplays, going to university and studying … there is not that much time for this blog. If you don’t want to wait that long or don’t want to read detailed explanations, feel free to check out my twitter and instagram profile. These are more frequently updated.
